Moving to Laurus Grace
The transition process at Laurus Grace is designed to ensure that every child joining our school experiences a positive and carefully planned start.
Our graduated approach enables staff to gather essential information, build trusting relationships with families, and create an individualised plan that reflects each student’s strengths, needs and aspirations.
The process reflects our two core principles:
- Unconditional Positive Regard
- Trauma-informed Practice
We recognise that many of our students may have experienced significant challenges throughout their childhood. These challenges are understood without judgement and are explored carefully during the transition period so staff can identify underlying needs and remove barriers to success.
Our approach is specifically designed to address previous attendance difficulties through establishing predictable routines, trusted relationships and emotionally safe learning environments. This process places strong emphasis on consistent attendance, supporting readiness to learn and the ability to engage successfully within a classroom environment.
Whilst we appreciate that students join us with varied experiences and may require time before accessing the classroom fully, our best hopes are for every child to be able to learn alongside peers, follow expectations, benefit from high-quality teaching and sit GCSE exams.
We look forward to your child beginning their journey with us.
